Couples' Shower and Family Picnic

Lisa, Mollie, Jenni, Ben, Jayson, and Jeff at Kara and Travis's couples' shower - the one picture I have, and they aren't even in it. :)
We had a big "Gowey family picnic" at my aunt and uncle's house in Olympia. They have a big, beautiful house and property; perfect for some good old-fashioned Gowey fun. Even though it was about 95 degrees all day, we still had fun.
My cousin Amanda - she didn't look too thrilled to run through the sprinkler :)
Her sister Kayla had a blast, though.

My dad with his 3 brothers. We decided to let Riley off his leash since they live far from the road. This was a treat for him, so he proceeded to run around for about 3 hours straight, chasing birds and butterflies (or their shadows, whichever caught his eye first. He ended up with huge blisters on his poor little feet by the end of the day.

4th of July and Anniversary

We had our families over for the 4th this year to BBQ. We decided to go up to the firework stand on our street to get a few things to join the fun. Riley is definitely NOT a fan of fireworks, and was a complete basketcase from about 8:00 until the explosions finally tapered off at around midnight. Poor guy :(
We are in an unincorporated county, so fireworks get a little crazy at our house - they literally go nonstop EVERYWHERE for about 4 hours with NO breaks in between - headache!!
Stacey (Jeff's sister) made Kaitlyn a cute quilt :)
Our 2 year anniversary was on the 1st, so we treated ourselves to a nice dinner and a walk by the beach. :)

Ocean Shores

Jeff has the week off from school, which will be the last one of those before baby Collins arrives, so we decided to take advantage of that (and the 3-day weekend) and head off to Ocean Shores for a couple of nights. It was a really nice little getaway.
Here's my debut at 9 holes of golf. Here I am practicing for what I'm sure was a horrible shot.

Here's Jeff taking a much better shot.

This is our hotel from the beach.

This is what we like to call "my turn" for choosing what we do. :) I used to ride horses, so this was the one thing I wanted to be sure we did. Jeff was a great sport. :)

The view from our hotel room.

There were kites everywhere!
A cool tree root on the beach
This guy (can you see him? Or her?) was right in front of us on the path to the beach. I would have run right into it if Jeff hadn't have stopped me.

Sunset :)

In other news...less than two weeks until the "big ultrasound"! We can hardly wait...I have started (I think...99% sure?) to feel the baby move a few times a day. Jeff is looking forward to being able to feel it, too. I am in my 18th week...

Quick Update

Sorry - no pictures! But, I do have a quick "baby update"...I went in for an appointment last week and heard the heartbeat again (love it!). I had rescheduled at the last minute, so Jeff wasn't able to leave work. I brought a little sound recorder with me so that he could hear the heartbeat. :) I hadn't told my 3rd graders yet, so I brought the recorder in and told them that we were going to play "Guess that Sound." They guessed a train (which is actually pretty accurate if you ask me), a horse running, a dog panting, and someone falling off of a building (that was one of my boys - surprised?) before I told them. They were so excited and proceeded to tell me what I was having and what I should name it. :)
We find out in less than 4 weeks what we are having!!
